What better way to commemorate the 60th Anniversary season of the Kansas City Ballet than with a glittering recital of one of visionary choreographer George Balanchine's greatest works? Part of his unforgettable Jewels triptych, this glorious finale celebrates the grace and virtuosity of the Imperial Russian Ballet, incorporating all the finer details of its shimmering costumes, sets and the splendor of the Mariinsky Theatre, its St Petersburg home to Tchaikovsky's Third Symphony.
This program, the first of the company's Celebration of Dance season, also includes the ground-breaking must see Petit Mort from Jiri Kylian in its Kansas City premiere and a new work from Matthew Neenan, Pennsylvania Ballet's Choreographer in Residence.
